In spite of there still being snow on the ground here, white jeans season in nearly upon us, and we strongly endorse getting into a pair (or two). The guiding purchasing principle? Let the white denim do the talking (as it's already talking pretty loudly). In other words, no funky cuts, no colored rivets, no contrast stitching, no distressing. Or as Suprametist artist Kazimir Malevich would say: "Just white jeans." Here are a few of our favorites this season.

7 for All Mankind Austyn Straight Leg Jeans $169
A 34" inseam, which is good for taller MBs, and a slightly wider leg opening (18") for those wanting to stay clear from any "skinny" association. The pocket logo can be removed in seconds.
You can get 20% off this pair with discount code BASTARD20, making them $135.20. |

Adriano Goldschmied Protege Jeans $162
These jeans, along with a fine pair of stems, graced the MB masthead when this site launched nearly four years ago. They're great white jeans. Unfortunately this season's inseam measures only 32.5", so they will signal a flood in our office, but may work for you. |

Citizens of Humanity 'Sid' Straight Leg Jeans $154
Long inseam (34.5") and fairly narrow leg opening (17") create slim, not skinny look. |

Alexander McQueen White Selvage Jeans $475
Alexander McQueen committed suicide just over a year ago, and design was taken over by Sarah Burton, who we dare say is at least as good, if not better than the brand's deceased namesake. |
posted:3.24.11 filed under: Q: I think every Puma sport fashion shoe you guys post sells out pretty quickly. I'm looking for an all around black shoe to wear to work or out with friends. How does this one work for an MB in training? --Justin
A: If this came in a matte black version, or a matte anything version, we'd enthusiastically recommend it. But unless you're at a wedding, patent leather has no place in your wardrobe. It violates the key MB matte vs. gloss principle, and would be too much for using it the way you've described (unless you work as a wedding planner, or crash a lot of weddings with your friends). posted:6.22.10 filed under: British fashion designer Alexander McQueen was found dead this morning in his London home. He was only 40.
Wikipedia tells us McQueen was known as "l'enfant terrible" and the "hooligan of English fashion," but we always considered him the Reggie Jackson of menswear. His footwear collaboration with PUMA produced some of the most soaring home runs we've seen in the last decade, and we have filled our closets with multiple pairs.
Like Jackson, McQueen didn't just hit jaw-dropping home runs, though. He struck out frequently, and when he did, he never went down looking. Instead, he took some of the most audacious hacks we've ever seen. His strike-outs were, if not things of beauty, mesmerizing spectacles nonetheless.
It will be tough to fill his lizard-leather sneakers. RIP, Mr. McQueen. posted:2.12.10 filed under: via YOOX. $630.00.If you have money to burn and you want to go as a kaleidescope to your next Halloween party, Alexander McQueen has got you covered. Was $4,200. Now dramatically marked down. posted:7.2.09 filed under: via Puma. $250.00.Q: Are there any shoes you can think of that I can wear at the gym and with a suit? --Nicholas
A: We've been thinking about this a lot lately so we're glad you asked. While no single shoe will simultaneously work for an AM 5K and a PM meeting with the CEO, Puma is the closest to cracking the code if, say, it's your lifting and not your cardio day. Their Black Label line, the Alexander McQueen collaboration, and some of the Rudolf Dassler stuff can do double duty, depending on the suit. (Again, we're working on one.) posted:4.27.09 filed under: via Alexander McQueen. $155.00.No one digs Alexander McQueen more than the MB. His collaboration with Puma has practically redefined men's footwear. But Spring 2009 is way, way too late in the game to be featuring skull accessories, even if they do have Swarovski crystal eyes. posted:3.2.09 filed under: Alexander McQueen makes beautiful $820 cashmere checked shirts and $1,920 trenches, but his greatest success is his footwear collaboration with Puma. He's made dozens of models for MBs who want to wear sneakers but don't want to look like they're wearing sneakers. "Casual, yet chic," as the ad copy says. And affordable. We cannot recommend these too highly. Take your pick at Zappos. posted:10.31.08 filed under:
