Ask the MB

Ask the MB
Q: I'm a 47-year-old teacher/writer who wants to become more magnificent, but doesn't want to try to look half his age (toolbag in my book). I need a serious (and budget appropriate) basic guide to starting and building a wardrobe. Have you posted anything like that in the past, or would you consider writing a feature on the topic?
—Robert

A: Robert, we're making writing that feature one of our New Year Resolutions. While you wait, hit the treadmill and get in the best shape possible. Don't add 10 pounds over the holidays, subtract 'em. It makes it a lot easier to be an MB when you don't look like Orson Welles. Stay tuned.

POURCAST

BETA

Sazerac

  • 3 shots rye whiskey (or to taste)
  • 1 sugar cube
  • Peychaud's Bitters
  • quarter shot of Absinthe
  • lemon twist

Soak the sugar cube with the bitters and place in the bottom of a highball glass. Mash with the back of a spoon (or muddler, which we hope has not been used to make a Mojito), add the rye whiskey and fill the glass with ice. Stir for about 30 seconds and then strain into another lowball glass that has been rinsed with Absinthe and filled about halfway with ice. Garnish with a lemon twist.
